Scotland’s Scenic Railways
Flint TV for Channel 4
Clear Cut crafted the latest series of Scotland’s Scenic Railways for Flint TV, exploring the beautiful Scottish Rail Network in the Highlands.
Having worked closely with the client on previous railway programming, the creative team had a clear brief to elevate and enhance the already stunning footage. Online Editor, Dan Preston used the Boris Sapphire_FieldRemove plugin to merge footage and smooth any minor aliasing that appeared in the rushes. Damion Katwaroo, Colourist, then used the full range of Baselight2 to create the rich, nostalgic and glossy look.
Ben Newth, Senior Dubbing Mixer used ProTools to combine stems from original audio sequences, in addition to a fresh voiceover and carefully selected music. Delicately matching with tremendous skill and patience, resulting in a seamless soundscape. Much of the material required careful use of Izotope RX7 to clean rustle and click and separate dialogue from noisy steam engines and all together creating an evocative and atmospheric finish for the programme.
